McCallum Bagpipes - New immitation ivory and threaded mountsMcCallum Bagpipes - New immitation ivory and threaded mounts
McCallum's are going to start using a new alloy on the mounts instead of nickel. The mounts will be made in-house so it means they will be putting a thread the wood as well. This means that all the ferrules, ringcaps, projecting mounts and hemp retainers will be threaded from now on.

They are also starting to use an alloy which won’t tarnish. Nickel can tarnish pretty quickly and once it gets too bad, it’s impossible to clean.

McCallum's are also changing the imitation ivory as well, to a much stronger material, which again will be easier to thread, but wont chip. It’s a better colour than the whiter material they use at the moment.
